barva volcano
The Barva volcano belongs to one of the three mountain peaks that make up Las Tres Marías. This name is derived from the mountains visible in the Central Valley of Heredia.
It is located north of the Central Valley, on the Central Volcanic Cordillera, between the massifs of the Poás and Irazú volcanoes.
It belongs to the province of Heredia and the Braulio Carrillo National Park and is the third highest volcano (2,906 meters above sea level) in Costa Rica, behind the Irazú volcano (3,432 meters above sea level) and the Turrialba volcano (3,340 meters above sea level).
The sector of the volcano has 4 trails: Cacho Venado, Mirador Vara Blanca, Laguna Volcán Barva and Laguna Copey, with distances that vary between 900 and 3500 m in length. It has viewpoints from where you can see the cloud forest, oak forests and the majestic quetzal. The area has signs for these main attractions.
