Corcovado national park

The Corcovado National Park has areas that have never been altered by humans, which favors the existence of numerous species that precisely need the tranquility of the forest to survive.

It is estimated that in Corcovado and the Osa Peninsula there are 375 species of birds, some of which are endemic.

It is estimated that there are 124 species of mammals, 40 species of freshwater fish, 8,000 species of insects, 71 reptiles and 46 amphibians.

Its rivers are clean and originate in primary forests and some, such as La Llorona, Corcovado and Sirena flow into estuaries with a large number of waterfowl.

In addition, large bull sharks swim towards the mouth of the rivers in search of food at high tide and jaguar populations reach significant densities taking advantage of marine resources such as turtles.

Due to the large undisturbed areas or in the process of recovery, Corcovado allows viable populations of mammals such as the tapir, the peccary (mountain peccary) and the jaguar to be maintained.

It is also an important place for the conservation of the alligator and the crocodile. On the other hand, the park is an experience for lovers of the environment who want to venture out and who are willing to travel paths with a certain degree of difficulty to witness the wonders of nature.
