San lucas island national park
San Lucas Island is known for being an old prison, it functioned between 1873 and 1991.
After its closure, it was established as a wildlife refuge and later as a national park. This is how it went from a prison, to become today a historical and tourist center. After becoming the 30th national park in the country, today it is a tourist attraction full of biodiversity.
Here it is common to hear the howls of monkeys and even be lucky enough to come across white-tailed deer, squirrels, iguanas, agoutis and even tepezcuintles. In addition, it is home to 40 species of birds and 17 reptiles.
Welcome to a national park steeped in history!
