La Cangreja National park
La Cangreja National Park is located in the San José province, Puriscal canton, Mercedes Sur and Chires districts. To be more exact, the main entrance is located 35 km southeast of the city of Santiago de Puriscal.
La Cangreja, refers to the characteristic shape of the hill that is located at its highest point at 1305 meters above sea level, it is an area of great scenic and panoramic beauty. According to an indigenous story, the mountain resembles a crab and the hills on its sides resemble the claws of this animal.
The park protects abundant and crystalline water sources such as the Negro River and the Quebrada Grande, which between rock formations carved by nature, allow you to enjoy and relax when bathing.
