rincón de la vieja national park
The Rincón de la Vieja National Park is one of the 30 national parks in the country. Costa Rica has 170 Protected Wilderness Areas, which represents 26% of the natural territory.
The incredible thing about our country is that it is a small but at the same time gigantic destination, its small size encompasses a rich flora and fauna. Rincón de la Vieja is an excellent example to exhibit.
In addition to witnessing volcanic activity, you will be able to visit a dry forest, a humid one, a very humid one and a cloudy one.Without a doubt, if you visit Guanacaste, this is a mandatory stop that you have to make.
Within this park you can enjoy two main sectors: Las Pailas and Santa María.
You can do a variety of activities that mix adrenaline and relaxation in a single space. Like: hiking, horseback riding, hot springs, swimming, enjoying a delicious picnic and even camping.
So, if you are one of those who loves to sleep in the middle of nature, this is another reason to visit it. Another of the advantages of this park is its location, as well as the climate experiment, since it has the Pacific coast on one side and the Caribbean on one side.
The western sector of the park on the slope of the volcano that faces the Pacific Ocean is more arid than the side towards the Caribbean, which means that it has a dry season from February to April.
On the other hand, the trade winds from the Atlantic on the east side of the park provide the rains that maintain the exuberant vegetation of the place.
